Forever Ago, the road trip adventure from Third Shift published by Annapurna Interactive, launches on Steam on October 8, 2026, which is tomorrow. It’s a single-player game: you take Alfred north in search of redemption, meet characters along the way, and use an instant camera to capture memories and solve small environmental puzzles. The soundtrack is by Clark Aboud (Slay the Spire, Kind Words). If you play on a modest PC, the news is good: it asks for a GTX 650 Ti at minimum and a GTX 1060 recommended.
Forever Ago PC requirements
These are the official requirements from the Steam page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 650 Ti 2 GB, Radeon HD 6950 2 GB or Arc A310 4 GB | GTX 1060 3 GB, RX 590 8 GB or Arc A580 6 GB |
| CPU | Core i5-2300 or Phenom II X4 965 | Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 |
| RAM | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
Both tiers require DirectX 12. Watch the RAM: the minimum asks for 8 GB and the recommended goes up to 16 GB. The game is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version on Steam.
Which GPUs run it
Every popular GPU we checked clears the minimum. The real question is how you do against the recommended, since canirun grades are measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM:
- GTX 1650 and RX 580: clear the minimum but fall short of the recommended. They grade C (Tight): they run it, with little headroom.
- GTX 1060 6GB: meets the recommended right at the line, grading B (Solid).
- RTX 3060: sits comfortably above the recommended, grading A (Smooth).
If your rig is a few years old, this is one of those launches that won’t push you into a GPU upgrade. For more games like that, check our list of games for low-end PCs.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve hasn’t verified it for Steam Deck yet. Our estimate, based only on specs, says the Deck clears the minimum but grades F against the recommended: it should launch, but it will struggle. Until Valve rates it, treat that as a spec-based estimate. You can follow it on the game’s Steam Deck page.
