Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches today, November 3, on Steam. It is a remaster of a kaiju brawler that first came out in 2002 on the GameCube. Pipeworks Studios develops it and Atari publishes it, with local co-op fights and new online multiplayer. On October 31 we told you about the PC requirements and why the recommended spec asks for 32 GB of RAM. Now that the game is out, it is time to check whether your rig can handle it.

What the remaster brings

CGMagazine reviewed it on PS5 and calls it a revival that goes beyond a simple remaster or port. The premise is the same as ever: an alien invasion in which the Vortaak control Earth’s monsters, and you pick one of 12 playable kaiju.

If you tried the demo Atari released on Steam on October 15, you already know the basics:

  • Kaiju: the demo offered Gigan, King Ghidorah and Godzilla.
  • Multiplayer: up to 4 local players, or 1 vs 1 online quick matches.
  • Destruction Mode: you level the city to rack up the most points.

The demo was available until October 27.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered PC requirements

It is Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version. These are the requirements from the Steam page:

MinimumRecommended
GPUGTX 1650 (4 GB VRAM)GTX 1070 / GTX 1080 (8 GB VRAM)
CPUCore i7-9700 or Ryzen 5 3600Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 5 5600X
RAM16 GB32 GB
Storage8 GB8 GB
OSWindows 10 64-bitWindows 11 64-bit

Both tiers require DirectX 12.

Which GPUs run it

Every popular GPU we checked clears the minimum. The difference is how much headroom each one gives you against the recommended spec:

  • GTX 1650 and RX 580: they clear the minimum but fall short of the recommended. Both grade D (Struggles) against the recommended, so they will launch it but struggle.
  • GTX 1660 Super: clears the minimum and lands close to the recommended without reaching it. It grades C (Tight).
  • RTX 3050, RTX 2060 and Arc B580: they meet the recommended spec with a C (Tight).
  • RTX 3060, RTX 4060 and RX 7600: they meet the recommended with a B (Solid). From the RTX 3070 and RTX 4070 up, the grade rises to A (Smooth).

One note on memory: canirun grades assume 16 GB of RAM, which is exactly this game’s minimum. The recommended spec asks for 32 GB, so 16 GB covers the memory minimum but not the headroom Atari suggests.

What about Steam Deck?

Valve has not verified it yet. Our spec-based estimate gives it an F, because the Deck’s hardware does not reach the game’s minimum. That is only an estimate built from the spec sheet, not a real test. The details are on the game’s Steam Deck page.
