STAR WARS: Galactic Racer is out on Steam as of today, October 6, for $59.99. When we checked the store page it had 13,230 concurrent players. It is Fuse Games and Secret Mode’s racer set in the Outer Rim, built around the Galactic League, an underground racing circuit. On October 5 we told you which GPUs cleared the minimum. Now that the game is out, the Steam requirements are unchanged, and the first report on how it runs on Linux has arrived.
STAR WARS: Galactic Racer PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements from the Steam store page:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | RTX 2060, Arc A580 or RX 5600 XT 6GB | RTX 3060 Ti, Arc B580 or RX 6700 XT |
| CPU | Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 | Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X |
| RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 50 GB on an SSD | 50 GB on an SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 | Not listed |
Watch the storage line: the store page marks an SSD as required in both tiers.
Which GPUs run it
These are canirun’s grades for popular GPUs, measured against the recommended requirement with 16 GB of RAM:
- Meet or beat the recommended: the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 4070 grade B (Solid). The RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT reach A (Smooth).
- Clear the minimum but not the recommended: the RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RX 6600 XT and RX 7600 grade C (Tight). The RTX 2060 clears the minimum with a D, so it runs but will struggle.
- Fall short of the minimum: GTX 1650, GTX 1060 6GB, Radeon RX 580, GTX 1660 Super and RTX 3050.
If your PC has 12 GB of RAM, you meet the minimum for memory. The recommended asks for 16 GB.
Steam Deck and Linux
Valve has not rated the game for Steam Deck yet. Our Deck grade is only a spec-based estimate: it comes out at F against the recommended and below the minimum. You can follow it on the game’s Steam Deck page.
Linux looks more encouraging. The Steam store page lists only Windows, but GamingOnLinux reports in its launch story that the game runs quite nicely on SteamOS and Linux. That is a press report, not a Valve verification. If you play on Linux, there is also our list of Linux games.
