Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition launches tomorrow, October 13, on Steam, Windows only. It is the updated version of Creative Assembly’s classic with all of its DLC, including the Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai campaigns. For PC players the changes are real: a 64-bit upgrade, 1440p and 4K UI scaling, a new borderless fullscreen mode and integrated mod support through Mod.io. The catch is hardware: recommended asks for an RTX 2070 Super and 16 GB of RAM.
If you already own the original SHOGUN 2, the studio says you get the original DLC at no additional cost plus a time-limited 75% loyalty discount when upgrading to the Complete Edition. The original build stays available as it is. Creative Assembly also posted a guide on Steam with release timings for each region.

On the 64-bit upgrade, the studio describes it as a thorough tech rewrite that lets the game use modern PC architecture more optimally and should make it more stable across the board.
Which GPUs run it
Our grade is measured against the recommended requirement, with 16 GB of RAM:
- Clear recommended: the RTX 4060, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 grade B (Solid). The RTX 4070, RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT grade A (Smooth).
- Between minimum and recommended: the RTX 3060, RTX 2060, RX 7600, RX 6600 XT and Arc B580 clear the minimum and grade C (Tight) against recommended.
- Clear minimum, but struggle: the GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1660 Super and RTX 3050 meet the minimum and grade D (Struggles) against recommended.
- Fall short: the GTX 1650 and Radeon RX 580 do not reach the minimum in our data.
For context within the series, our data shows this remaster asks for a stronger recommended GPU than Total War: WARHAMMER III and Total War: THREE KINGDOMS.
What about Steam Deck?
Valve has not rated it yet. Based on specs alone, our estimate is an F: the Deck falls below the published minimum. That is a spec-based estimate, not a real test, and you can follow its status on the game’s Steam Deck page.
