Euro Truck Simulator 2: update 1.62, the Coaches DLC and whether your PC keeps up
SCS Software announced new garages and better cabins for Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.62, plus the Coaches DLC with buses. Here is what's coming, whether the requirements change and which GPUs clear the minimum and the recommended.
In this guide 5
Euro Truck Simulator 2 has 51,491 concurrent players on Steam right now, and SCS Software has been posting news almost daily. Update 1.62 brings new garages across the map, the Coaches DLC puts you behind the wheel of a long-distance bus, and the studio is bringing unreleased content to Poznań Game Arena, October 23 to 25. On October 1 we covered the requirements and which GPUs run it while it was 75% off. That sale is over and the game is back to $19.99. The part that matters for your PC: none of the announcements cited here mention changes to the requirements.
What update 1.62 brings
The announcements cited here don’t give a date for 1.62, but they show two of the changes:
- New garages: garage models get new visuals inside and out across the base map and every map DLC. American Truck Simulator got the same refresh in 1.58.
- Better cabins: the Improved Material System comes to the Iveco S-Way interior. It improves cabin lighting and how leather, fabric, plastic and metal react to light, even in low-light conditions.
The studio also notes it keeps reworking older parts of the map: the Benelux rework is the latest, and the United Kingdom rework is underway.
Coaches: the bus DLC
Coaches swaps the truck for a bus full of passengers. SCS released a gameplay preview of the Scania Touring on a drive from Narvik to Andenes in northern Norway, showing a G-force indicator: sharp turns and hard braking upset your passengers, and their satisfaction counts toward your results at the end of the trip. Beyond Quick Jobs and Contract Jobs, there will be Tourist Jobs: you take passengers from a bus station to a landmark, and when you arrive you get a scenic viewpoint with a short cutscene. The recent announcements don’t give a release date for Coaches.
If you’re going to Poznań Game Arena, you can try Coaches and the Iceland DLC in Hall 5, Booth 56, with Logitech wheels and 4D motion simulators.

These are the Steam store requirements. The 1.62 and Coaches announcements cited here don’t mention any change:

Which GPUs run it
Every popular GPU we checked clears the minimum. Grades are measured against the recommended requirement:
- GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3050 and Arc B580 meet it with a B. See what else the GTX 1660 Super runs.
- RTX 3060 and RX 7600 sit above it with an A. Here’s what the RTX 3060 runs.
- GTX 1060 6GB and RX 580 clear the minimum with a C, between the minimum and the recommended. The GTX 1650 also clears the minimum, but with a D it will struggle.
On Steam Deck, Valve rates it Verified. It also runs on Mac and Linux. On Linux, SCS asks for recent binary ATI or NVIDIA drivers and warns that MESA may not work reliably.
