In this guide 5
The Blood of Dawnwalker update 1.1 went live yesterday, October 22, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco call it the game’s first major post-launch update, with new features and over 1,100 improvements and fixes. For PC players, the most relevant change is in the Steam patch notes: the frame generation technology (FrameGen) has been updated and now has its own settings.
What patch 1.1 brings
These are the highlights from the official notes:
- FrameGen: an update to the frame generation technology, including dedicated settings.
- Draught of Mind Rebirth: a new potion that lets you forget your Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism abilities and spend those points on a different set.
- Difficulty: the old Story difficulty is now called Forgiving, and a new Story mode adds extra combat assist.
- Subtitles: you can increase the font size and turn on subtitles for all dialogue lines.
- Combat: animations and camera movement were adjusted, targeting and lock-on were improved, and Shadowstep and Planeshift respond better.
- Misc: controller deadzone settings, a Buyback option at merchants, and rebalanced item upgrade costs.
The highlights include no performance figures and no changes to the system requirements.
What to do on your PC
The update is already available, so just let Steam download it. Then check the new FrameGen settings: among the highlights in the notes, it is the only one that targets performance directly. The highlights do not explain which options it adds or recommend specific settings. For the rest of the over 1,100 fixes, check the full patch notes on Steam.
The Blood of Dawnwalker PC requirements
These are the Windows requirements from the Steam page. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5, and both tiers ask for an SSD:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | GTX 1060 or RX 580 (6 GB VRAM) | RTX 4060, RX 7600 XT or Arc B580 (8 GB VRAM) |
| CPU | Core i5-11400F or Ryzen 7 2700X | Core i7-11700K or Ryzen 7 5700X |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 60 GB on SSD | 60 GB on SSD |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12 | Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12 |
Which GPUs run it
canirun grades compare each card’s benchmark score with the requirement’s score, not with the official list of models, and they are always measured against the recommended requirement. By those scores, the RTX 4060 and RTX 3060 Ti meet the recommended spec with a B, and the RTX 5070 reaches an A. The RTX 3060 clears the minimum and lands at a tight C. The RTX 2060 also clears the minimum but grades D, so it will struggle. The GTX 1060 6GB clears the minimum and grades F against the recommended, so it runs with little headroom.
Two cases can be confusing. The official spec sheet names the Arc B580 in the recommended tier, but by our scores it clears the minimum and grades D. The sheet also names the RX 580 in the minimum tier, but by our scores it falls below the minimum, like the GTX 1650.
On Steam Deck, Valve has not verified the game. Our estimate, based only on specs, gives it an F.
