NVIDIA published its GFN Thursday post on October 22, and the headline is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It arrives on GeForce NOW at launch: NVIDIA’s list puts its release on October 23 in the Call of Duty app. Ultimate members can play the campaign with ray tracing, powered by newly added GeForce RTX 5080-class performance. Six games join the library this week. If your PC cannot handle one of them, the cloud lets you play it without new hardware.
The six games joining this week
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: releases October 23 in the Call of Duty app. It brings a new campaign, multiplayer with a dozen core 6v6 maps, and DMZ, the extraction mode.
- FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE: released October 22 on Steam. It is the new Square Enix game, with cinematic pixel art and strategic battles.
- We Were Here Tomorrow: released October 20 on Steam.
- CONTROL Resonant: on the Epic Games Store.
- Crimson Desert: on the Epic Games Store.
- Planet Zoo 2: on the Xbox app, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
On October 16 we told you that GeForce NOW was adding DLSS 4.5 controls and 10 games, Planet Zoo 2 among them. This week it shows up on the list again, this time on the Xbox app. NVIDIA notes that the dates are store release dates. GeForce NOW availability may vary, because games are added throughout the week.
Outside those six, The Elder Scrolls Online launched its second season, Echoes of Skyrim, on October 21. It is free for all players and ready to stream. Owners of the Standard Edition get the entire Greymoor Chapter and the Antiquities system. The Markarth DLC follows on Monday, November 9.
Ray tracing in the cloud and a new way to pay
The RTX 5080-class performance for Ultimate members works across PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, browsers and supported TVs. That means the Modern Warfare 4 campaign with ray tracing does not depend on your graphics card. GeForce NOW also handles the download and install, so the game does not take up your drive either.
If you use a supported Fire TV Stick, you can now buy one-month Performance or Ultimate memberships directly through Amazon, billed through Amazon’s system. If you want to try before paying for a month, there is a day pass, and its cost can be applied toward your first monthly membership.
How heavy these games are for your PC
On canirun, recGpuScore is the benchmark score of each game’s recommended GPU: higher means more demanding. In this batch, the heaviest is Planet Zoo 2 (21,750), followed by CONTROL Resonant (19,810), Crimson Desert (18,650) and We Were Here Tomorrow (17,050). Modern Warfare 4 sits at 15,900. The lightest by far is FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE (9,200), the only one that recommends 8 GB of RAM instead of the 16 GB the rest ask for. If your machine is on the modest side, also check out games for low-end PCs.
Can your PC run these games?
Here is how your PC grades against the recommended requirement of four of this week’s games:
| Game | Rec. GPU score | Rec. RAM | Min. RAM | Your PC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| | 15,900 | 16 GB | 8 GB | ? |
| | 21,750 | 16 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 19,810 | 16 GB | 16 GB | ? |
| | 9,200 | 8 GB | 8 GB | ? |
If you fall short, each game page, like the one for Modern Warfare 4, shows which upgrade raises your grade the most. If not, the cloud is your way in.
